Ryan Mihaly is an inter-disciplinary artist based in the United States.
As a multi-instrumentalist and composer, I have played with a variety of musical groups over the years, including Dave Mihaly's Shimmering Leaves, Fast Speaking Music, The Diary of Ic Explura, Who 'Da Funk It, Stimulus Package, k'enekt, The Adventures of Prince Achmed Ensemble, Janice Lowe's Leaving CLE, St. Thomas Aquinas' Schola in Boulder, CO, and many more. I have written music for saxophone ensemble, string ensemble, and other small groups.
I have been regularly collaborating with the Wyoming-based guitarist Andrew Schulman since 2005.
My poetry and prose projects dwell in the phenomenon of sound. I am also deeply interested in the art of translation. Poems, interviews, translations, and prose pieces have appeared in The Massachusetts Review, DIAGRAM, Tupelo Quarterly, 3:AM Magazine, and elsewhere. I was the Interview Features Editor at Asymptote from 2014-2016. A complete list of published pieces can be found here.
I studied photography and collage at Hampshire College with Robert Seydel (1960-2011). My collages have appeared on the cover of Karolina Zapal's Polalka, in 3:AM Magazine and The Adirondack Review, and shown in galleries in Skopje, Macedonia and Amherst, MA.
